Have you ever thought about how much time you spend on looking good? Whether it’s a manicure, or Botox, or a hair appointment, or shopping for new clothes, or makeup, or so many other ways we think about and take care of our physical appearance.

There is even more emphasis than there has been before on our appearance in this age of the selfie and social media.

It is so important to look good, and we often forget our true selves in this process. We forget the part of us that knows all of this is ridiculous. The part that can observe ourselves doing all of these things and laugh about how cute and silly we are that we think this really matters.

Because the deeper eternal part of us knows that all of the superficial things that we do to take care of how we look can be really fun, but don’t really matter at all. They are an important part of being a human, and can have an impact on how we feel about ourselves, but truly what really matters is our energy field.

Everything is made of energy. We have a field of subatomic particles around us, reflecting how we feel. This field is what attracts things to us in our life, it is what people feel when we meet them and they feel a “vibe” from us. It is made of energy. And it is ours to have fun with, play with, and allow to sparkle and glow as it was designed to do.

There are many things that can diminish this “shine.” Even some of the things we think we are doing to improve our appearance can actually dull our sparkle. If we are comparing ourselves to others or criticizing our own appearance, this actually diminishes the expansion and glow of our energy field. Any negativity, fear, doubt, frustration, guilt, jealousy, etc….contracts our energy and doesn’t help us create the vibe we want. High vibration thoughts and feelings, practiced over time, help us feel great, and fill our auras with light that is contagious.

Making over the energy of your aura has many positive side effects:

  • Improving your physical appearance
  • Attracting what you want in your life
  • Helping you feel amazing
  • Magnetizing others to you, and giving their energy systems permission to glow as well!
  • The process of an energy makeover takes time and consistent practice.

Some steps to help you along the way are:

1. Bring in the love:

The more you feel the feeling of self-love, the more you will glow. You can practice this all day, and a good way to remember is to combine it with times that you are beautifying your physical appearance. For example, while you are putting on your makeup or shaving your face, practice self-love. Tell yourself how much you love yourself and how proud you are of all of your gifts.

When you are getting dressed, remind yourself of how hard you work, and how much you appreciate yourself. Self-love brightens up our energy field, your makeup and outfit will magically look even better when you combine it with some positive loving energy!

2. Practice feeling your aura:

Start to practice noticing the difference in your aura. Pay attention to when you are feeling really good, expansive, open and sparkly. What helped you get there? What are you doing? Who are you with? Same goes for when you feel shut down, closed, depleted and negative. Get curious about the factors involved here as well.

The more you can be noticing the shifts in your energy and what factors are helpful or not, the more in charge you can be of managing and activating your own positive energy system.

3. Pay attention to where your attention is:

Spend at least as much time activating your energy field as you do thinking about the way you look. Practice noticing when you are judging your appearance, or thinking about it in general. Gently start the practice of shifting this train of thought into feeling your aura expanding and glowing instead.

4. Consciously practice:

In addition to checking in and filling your aura with light all day long, it’s also helpful to have a daily meditation practice to help magnetize your energy. One easy way to start is to first get quiet and still and just follow your breath. As you become relaxed, then spend 10- 20 minutes visualizing and feeling your aura expand. First imagining beautiful white light surrounding your body, then filling the room you are in, then filling the house, then your neighborhood, and your city, and country, expanding and expanding infinitely. There are plenty of guided meditations out there that you can find to practice with as well.

Visualization and feeling this energy is important to practice not just in dedicated meditation time, but all day long as well. Put some checkpoints throughout your day, block them off on your calendar, and spend just 1-5 minutes, 3-5 times a day bringing light into your energy field. You can imagine white light coming down like rain, or sparkles surrounding your whole body, or feel golden honey surrounding you.

It’s your energy and you are a powerful being, able to allow its beauty to come forth with your consciousness!

Consistently practicing these techniques will allow your energy to expand and glow more and more over time. Not only while you are practicing, but the process will start to integrate as well, and you will continue to feel better, lighter and more expansive as your consciousness continues to evolve.

We are light at our core, our nature is to shine. This is just a process of remembering this truth, connecting to it on purpose as much as you can, and reminding your sweet human brain that your outward “appearance” is really not that important.
