I keep having a visual of Winter being in the season where we all are a cocoon and hibernating right now.  During this time, we get to connect with ourselves and see what is really going on inside.  We are getting to know ourselves at a deeper level, which is really what life is all about after all.

I know it’s uncomfortable and we all like to distract ourselves from this work most of the time.  Usually, it’s a lot easier to do so.  We can go out more, go to work, go out with friends, and do other things to stay busy and productive…and disconnected from our truth.

It’s always trying to get our attention.  That little voice that whispers to you to slow down, to listen, to be still.  It is much more subtle and quiet than our thoughts and fears usually however, so it’s easier to ignore.

Now, it’s quieter all over.  It’s so quiet that even nature is creeping out into civilization more than ever.  It’s so quiet that that little subtle voice inside is able to be heard just a little bit easier.

Kind of like nature.  It’s also usually more peaceful, subtle and mild than humans and all of our noise.  Our cars, our phones, and our work and our “progress.”  It’s so loud!  Nature is flowing, and easy, and organic, and peaceful.

As we see nature emerging around us even more, we can see the parallels between this emerging, and the slow gentle current of our own intuition emerging as well.

Just as the beautiful pair of ducks are hanging out in my neighborhood now because things are quiet, so is the voice of our internal wisdom feeling a little safer to creep out from behind our fears and doubts, and business and productivity.

As we soften and as we slow down, we create space.  Without this space it is impossible to hear, see and feel our internal awareness’s.

Our insight is always right there, just like the ducks and the eagles and the bunnies are right there.  They are just sitting and waiting for us to pay attention to them, and to learn from their wisdom.

The image of a cocoon and the eventual emergence of millions of butterflies is so strong for me right now.

When the caterpillar moves into chrysalis form, it dissolves its old self.  It transforms its cells into something completely different.  It emerges as a gorgeous butterfly, beautiful and proud of its beauty and freedom.

While we are not necessarily dissolving completely during this time of our hibernation, we do have the opportunity, whether we are conscious of it or not, to dissolve the parts of ourselves that no longer serve us.

We have the opportunity to let go of old habits, or belief systems, or thoughts that no longer serve our highest good.  We have the opportunity to transform our old ways of being into something that serves us more.

We will either do this consciously or unconsciously, willingly or kicking and screaming.  Resisting, or welcoming it in.

We are always growing and evolving, whether through negative experiences or consciously working on personal growth.  The more we resist this process, the harder it is.  The more challenging the lessons are, and the more we unintentionally suffer through it.

If we are instead able to consciously embrace the experience of evolution and remember to welcome each moment as a learning opportunity that we have chosen to help us grow, life is much more easy and fun!

We get to grow faster, feel happier, and let our light inspire others more.  We are all going through life anyway, why would we not want to evolve consciously rather than fighting it all along the way?

Here are some ways to tell if you are allowing the universe to support you on your journey of transformation during this time, or fighting it:

Signs of Transformation Resistance, a Caterpillar Refusing to Come out of the Cocoon:

  1. Complaining either internally or out loud about what you are going through right now:

“I hate this, when will it be over?”

While of course it’s ok to vent and get support, once you get it out, shift your perspective to something more positive.

       2. Holding on too tightly to how things used to be:

“I can’t wait to go back to being super busy, productive, etc.…”

Things will be different now, and that is a beautiful thing!

       3. Ignoring your own insight:

“I know I should (meditate, go in nature, take care of myself) but I just don’t feel like it”

I know it can feel like you don’t have the energy to do anything, but I promise it’s not hard to connect to your intuition.

I’m not saying work hard all day every day, or to not rest if you need to, but your ego always will tell you that you don’t feel like doing things that will help you grow.  You don’t have to listen to it, it is just scared and trying to keep you small.

Signs of Embracing Transformation, a Caterpillar Embracing the Opportunity to Evolve and Expand:

  1. Being open minded about everything:

“I am open to what I can learn about myself through this opportunity”

Being open minded about this time and not resisting it will help you connect to your insight about it.

       2. Saying thank you:

“Thank you so much universe for providing this experience for me to understand myself more deeply.”

Even if you don’t believe this right away, reminding your conscious mind frequently of this belief that your soul already holds will help you integrate this into your cells.

This gratitude gets you out of the fear of your ego and expands your awareness.

      3. Reminding yourself that every moment is here to help your consciousness expand:

“Every moment is an opportunity to expand my awareness”

Every experience is here to help you evolve.

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness.  How do you know this is the experience you need?  Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”

-Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth

The more that we can all remember to embrace this time of transformation as a way to expand, the better and faster we will all move through this.

We will come out the other side in a transformed and beautiful way, just like our butterfly friends.
